Children’s and Youth Ministries

Sunday School

q       We have Sunday school for all ages beginning at 9:00 AM in the education wing of the church.

Children’s Church & Worship

q       Each Sunday, except once a month on communion Sunday, we offer worship designed especially for children ages 3 years to 8 years. Children remain in worship until time for the children’s chat at which time they come to the front for a lesson and prayer with the pastor before being dismissed for children’s church.

Seasonal Vacation Bible School

q       Westminster is developing a tradition of holding one-day Bible Schools during the Christmas and Easter seasons. These are particularly designed to introduce children to Jesus' birth, life, death and resurrection and its importance to their lives.

Nursery

q       Westminster wants to serve you by providing a nursery for your children ages 4 and under.

Youth Group

q       Youth Group meets every Monday night at Pastor Adrian’s home for Bible Study, refreshments, and games.  There is always an open question time during which we discuss relevant issues that are on the hearts and minds of our youth.  Along with Bible Study, the youth often will join together to watch movies and discuss current issues arising in pop culture.  Group outings are a time for fun and fellowship. Youth are encouraged to invite their friends to any activity.

Ministries in Our Church

Grace Groupsmeet in the homes of different members and give folks the opportunity to enjoy fellowship, times of prayer and more intimate times of studying scripture together in a small group. See Calendar for specific information regarding small group meeting times.

Prayer and Supper On the first Wednesday of the month, we gather together for a light supper followed by a prayer meeting for the needs of the church.

Equipping The Saints (ETS) is a series of nine-week studies throughout the year, each covering different topics.  During each nine-week period, the class meets on Wednesday night from 6:00 – 7:30 PM. Childcare is provided for this time.  Our next offering begins in September when we will study Covenant Theology.

Women in the Church (WIC) provides opportunities for women to grow together in the grace and knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.  Some of the women meet every Thursday afternoon for prayer and fellowship.  Some activities in which WIC participates include the Illiana Presbytery Women’s Retreat, Christmas brunch, and ringing bells for the Salvation Army.

Men’s Ministry During the year the men meet together periodically for a men’s prayer breakfast as well as having a retreat every fall.  The men’s ministry is beginning to develop a prayer and mentoring program along with other activities to help men grow to be all that God wants them to be.

Choir & Worship Team – At Westminster, we are committed to a blended form of worship, using both traditional and contemporary styles of music. Opportunities abound for those desiring to use their musical gifts, in both the choir, directed by Janet Vandegriff and the worship team.

Pastoral Counseling Pastor Adrian is available to counsel people who desire assistance with life and family issues, both inside and outside the church family. Recognizing that life brings with it difficult situations that cause anxiety, we believe that biblical counsel, pastoral care, and prayer can be of great benefit.
